The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Head of the Learning Resource Centre and the LRC Team in the delivery of Library and information services to students and teachers.

Under general direction, this will include:

  • Providing basic reference and information services for library users,
  • helping maintain and operate the “Access-It” library system,
  • Manage and develop the Learning Resource Centre website using the LibGuides software system,
  • Circulation of audio-visual and other equipment used in the delivery of curriculum and other school programs.

As a member of the Library team, the person will be required to work within established routines and procedures and support LRC policies.

In addition to the Library Technician role, the successful applicant will work with the Business Manager and Assistant Principals to identify needs in the area of communications and develop a schedule to address the school’s needs in this area, S/he needs to be self-managing and proactive in supporting the communications and website management aspects of this role.

Applicants should hold, at a minimum, a Diploma of Library/Information Services and should provide a copy of the certification of these qualifications when applying for the position.

Sacré Cœur – Library Technician

The Library Technician will be responsible for providing a diverse range of services in the provision of an effective and efficient information service to staff and students. The priority for this role will be Audio-Visual support.

Responsible to: The Library Technician is responsible to the Principal through primary responsibility to the Head of Information Services.

Key Requirements:

• Understanding of the philosophy and spirituality of a Catholic school

• The goals of Sacred Heart Education should be evident in the modeling provided by this person in their dealings with students, staff and parents

• Have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

• Contribution to a child-safe environment, familiarity with and compliance with the school’s childsafe policy and code of conduct, and any other policies or procedures relating to child safety

Qualifications:

• Library Technician qualifications or equivalent, suitable experience and a background relevant to the role
