Privacy Policy

We gather information solely to manage your membership of The School Library Association of Victoria (SLAV) and the services that we provide for members of the association and associated vendors and exhibitors. We will not collect information that does not pertain to this. In order to serve the purpose of the SLAV and to improve the service SLAV offers members we may use collected information for evaluation and research purposes.

All collected information will be protected against loss and unauthorised use or disclosure. SLAV will not disclose individual information to third parties without seeking express permission first. You will always be able to request access to the information the SLAV holds about you.  The administrator of your school membership also has access to only your own school’s records in our database to enable updating of your schools records.

Our Website

Whenever you visit our website our web host, or internet service provider, we may record general information for evaluation and review. As with most websites, this information is likely to include:

• Your internet address - including your domain name i.e. yourschool.vic.edu.au
• When you visited the SLAV website
• The pages you visited and any information and documentation you downloaded
• The website you were looking at immediately preceding your visit to the SLAV site
• Basic information about the types of computer operating system and web browser you are using
• This information is used for statistical analysis only as a means of updating and improving our website. It will not be used to identify you or your internet viewing activity.

Email Addresses

SLAV will only record your email address if you send us a message and we need to reply to your inquiry. We will add your address to our general mailing list because you have expressed interest in the activities and purpose of the School Library Association of Victoria but you will always be given the clear opportunity to "unsubscribe" from this list. Your email address will not be disclosed to third parties and will be stored securely.

Security

The SLAV website and email server does not provide for secure transmission across the internet. SLAV recommends that you contact the office by telephone or post if you have any concerns about sending information over the internet. Nor does this privacy policy relate to sites linked to the SLAV site.
