  SLAV State Council meetings in 2025 will be held at the Abbotsford Convent, in person, or online as decided by the Council.

  There are three special meetings across the year which are held at the Abbotsford Convent are:

  • Council Planning Day
  • Council meeting and the Annual General Meeting
  • Council Think Tank for future planning

  All other meetings are general Council Meetings are held online.

  We invite members to join our vibrant online book club community for  2025!

  The SLAV Online Book Club meets regularly throughout the year to explore and discuss literature for young people.

  Time: 4:30 to 5:30 PM (refer to flyer for individual session dates) 
  Format: Online
  Open to: All SLAV Members
  Cost: Free

  Each session dedicates most of our time to discussing youth literature, with the final ten minutes reserved for sharing reading recommendations.

  We document all book suggestions and share them through both the SLAV and  Shelftalkers websites, making it easy for members to discover new reads.

  Participants can encourage students to engage with our reading community through the SLAV Shelftalkers platform, creating an ongoing conversation about books beyond our meeting times.

  Light refreshments will be available  (nut/gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available)

  Call for nominations for the SLAV 2025 Committee

  Have you considered nominating for the SLAV Committee in 2025? SLAV is now calling for nominations.

  Being a SLAV committee member gives you the opportunity to join a strong professional team who are committed to, and passionate about School Libraries and Teacher Librarianship. It not only enables you to contribute significantly to the Library profession, but also:

  • raises your professional profile,
  • expands your knowledge and experience,
  • broadens your professional network.

  It’s also a lot of fun and will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your professional life!
  

  All positions of the Committee must be vacated and are eligible for re-election. All nominees and nominators must be current financial members. The following positions require filling:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
